Stanford freshman Haley Jones, the nation's No. 1 recruit, left Sunday's 61-58 win at No. 8 Oregon State with an apparent right knee injury.
Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said Jones would undergo an MRI when the No. 3 Cardinal returned home from Corvallis, Oregon, but offered no other details on the injury.
"I don't believe anything until we get the MRI," VanDerveer told reporters. "Hopefully, she'll be all right."
Jones was injured with one minute remaining in the third quarter. She stumbled while trying to backpedal in defending a baseline drive and fell awkwardly. After being looked at by staff for several minutes, she was helped off the court without putting weight on her right leg.
She returned to the Stanford bench during the fourth quarter, but she had her right leg stretched across several seats and ice wrapped on her knee. She remained seated until the end of the game.
Jones totaled eight points, three rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes. She entered the game as Stanford's third-leading scorer, averaging 11.6 points in 26 minutes.
Jones and fellow freshman Ashten Prechtel were instrumental in keeping Stanford close after Oregon State jumped to a quick lead in the first half. That helped the Cardinal, who lost at Oregon on Thursday, avoid being swept in a two-game Pac-12 weekend for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
"I think she's going to be a real key for us going down the stretch, her maturation," VanDerveer told ESPN about Prechtel. "Obviously, Haley is, too. Hopefully Haley's knee situation will be short term."
The Naismith Girls' High School Player of the Year at California's Archbishop Mitty High School, Jones is the first No. 1 recruit to sign with Stanford since Chiney Ogwumike in 2009.
