Sabrina Ionescu among 3 Oregon players on 20-player Wooden Watch list

Oregon's Ruthy Hebard, Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally are among 20 players who appear on the late-season watch list for the 2020 Wooden Award, giving the Ducks the most representatives of any school.

The Wooden Award is given annually to the most outstanding player in women's college basketball.

A 5-foot-11 senior and the award's reigning holder, Ionescu leads the nation in assists per game and leads the Ducks in scoring.

But while Ionescu's scoring is down slightly from a season ago, Hebard, a 6-foot-4 senior, has increased her scoring and rebounding from last season and is shooting close to 70% from the field. Only a junior, the 6-foot-4 Sabally completes a trio that together averages around 50 points and 25 rebounds per game for the Ducks.

UConn's Megan Walker and Crystal Dangerfield and South Carolina's Aliyah Boston and Tyasha Harris also give those schools multiple players on the late-season list.

Boston is the only freshman among the list of 20 players, while NC State's Elissa Cunane and Kentucky's Rhyne Howard are the only sophomores. Howard is the leading scorer among players on the list.

Lauren Cox is defending national champion Baylor's sole representative. Despite missing eight games with a foot injury, Cox leads Baylor in rebounds and blocks per game. She is also one of six players, along with Texas A&M's Chennedy Carter, Maryland's Kaila Charles, Dangerfield, Hebard and Ionescu who appeared on the late-season top 20 list a season ago.

Baylor's Juicy Landrum, Miami's Beatrice Mompremier, UConn's Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Christyn Williams and Oregon State's Destiny Slocum were not included on the late-season list after appearing on the 25-player revised watch list in January.
