Tennessee women's basketball halts activities due to positive coronavirus test, postpones 2 SEC games

The Tennessee women's basketball program has paused activities after a positive COVID-19 test among its Tier 1 personnel, the school announced Tuesday.

The pause means the Lady Vols' first two SEC games -- at No. 9 Texas A&M on Thursday and at home vs. No. 13 Kentucky on Sunday -- have been postponed.

Athletes, coaches, team managers and support staff are classified as Tier 1 personnel.

Tennessee (6-1) previously had a nonconference game postponed this season at Texas.

With the postponements, the Lady Vols' next scheduled game is Jan. 7 against No. 10 Arkansas. They are coming off a 77-52 victory over Lipscomb in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Monday. That was the first time Tennessee had played since Dec. 20.
