No. 4 Arizona's game against No. 11 Texas on Sunday in Las Vegas was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols and contact tracing within the Wildcats' women's basketball program, the school announced Saturday.
The neutral-site game was part of the Coast-to-Coast Challenge, a doubleheader with a men's game between Texas and Stanford.
The Coast-to-Coast Challenge, working with Texas to find a suitable replacement opponent on short notice, was able to secure San Diego late Saturday night, with the Longhorns posting confirmation on social media.
The Toreros (7-3) will take on the Longhorns (7-1) on ESPN at 5:30 p.m. ET, drawing a conclusion to a bizarre weekend for the Texas program. Before San Diego entered the mix, Longhorns coach Vic Schaefer posted a request on social media, seeking an opponent at the last minute.
Does anyone want to play us at 2:30 tomorrow on ESPN in the T-Mobile Arena here in Las Vegas? We need an opponent as Arizona is in Covid protocol. I know it's late but it's an opportunity. Give me a call or DM me back.

The matchup with the Wildcats would have been an early-season battle of top teams. Arizona is 10-0 with a win over a top 25 team already and the Longhorns are riding a four-game winning streak.
