India has a reason to celebrate after my Rio loss - Yogeshwar (1:22)

Yogeshwar Dutt and Jagdish Kaliraman talks about the former's medal upgradation (1:22)

Yogeshwar Dutt's 2012 Olympic bronze has been upgraded to silver after the sample of the second-placed finisher in the 60kg category, Russia's Besik Kudukhov, tested positive for a banned substance. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) confirmed this after the decision was made public by United World Wrestling (UWW). Four-time world champion Kudukhov died in a car accident in 2013.

Yogeshwar now joins Sushil Kumar as only the second Indian wrestler and fifth overall individual silver medallist at the Olympics. At the 2016 Rio Games, Yogeshwar suffered an early exit in the 65 kg freestyle qualification round bout, losing 0-3 to Mandakhnaran Ganzorig. It was the 33 year-old's fourth and possibly final Olympic appearance.

Yogeshwar had been beaten 3-0 in the pre-quarterfinals by Kudukhov in London, following which he won three repechage matches in a row to win what was then the third bronze medal for Indian wrestling at the Olympics following Khashaba Jadhav (1952) and Sushil Kumar (2008). However, since Kudukhov was the wrestler who has been disqualified, Yogeshwar's bronze has been upgraded to a silver. The other bronze medallist from London in the 60 kg category, Coleman Scott of USA, will now be the solitary holder of a bronze medal in this weight category for the 2012 Games.
