WWE legend Kane has narrow lead in Knox County's Republican mayoral race

With all precincts reporting in Tennessee's Knox County Republican primary for mayor, Glenn Jacob leads a three-way race with more than 40,000 ballots cast by a margin of 17 votes, according to Knoxville ABC affiliate WATE.

Best known as WWE superstar Kane, Jacobs cannot officially be declared the winner until next week, because the Knox County Election Commission said there are 43 provisional ballots that still need to be counted.

Election officials said it's likely that some of the provisional ballots, which were cast by voters who had either no record of voter registration or no photo ID (as well as one paper ballot), will not be valid when they are counted Thursday.

Jacobs, 51, defeated county commissioners Brad Anders and Bob Thomas for the Republican nomination. The general election, which also will feature Democrat Linda Haney, will take place Aug. 2.

Even as he campaigned for nomination, Jacobs continued to perform inside of a WWE ring as the demonic character Kane. He most recently appeared at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans on April 8.
