The 2026 edition of SummerSlam will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis and will take a page out of the WrestleMania playbook and get the two-night treatment, WWE announced Thursday.
This will be the first time SummerSlam will take place over two nights. WrestleMania started the trend of two-night events for WWE in 2020 and held the first two-night WrestleMania in front of a live crowd in 2021. WrestleMania 40 set a WWE gate record of over 145,000 fans over two nights at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field in April.
WWE hopes to have similar success with SummerSlam, one of the tentpole events for the promotion.
"U.S. Bank Stadium is an absolutely world-class venue, situated in a city with rich wrestling history and an amazing fan base," Chris Legentil, WWE executive vice president, talent relations and head of communications, said in a statement. "We're excited to bring two nights of SummerSlam to Minneapolis in 2026."
This year's SummerSlam is taking place in Cleveland in August.
Thursday's announcement might come as a consolation for Minneapolis, which had been the rumored location for WrestleMania 42 in 2025 before WWE instead landed on Las Vegas. This will be the first time Minnesota has hosted a premium live event for WWE since 2019, when TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs took place there in December.
"We are thrilled to welcome the WWE Universe to Minnesota for SummerSlam," said Wendy Blackshaw, president and CEO of Minnesota Sports and Events. "We will make this summertime wrestling extravaganza accessible for fans of all ages. Through a variety of festivities and ancillary events in the Twin Cities and affordable tickets to the main events at U.S. Bank Stadium, this will be a SummerSlam for all."
The announcement comes on the heels of TKO's merger of WWE and UFC's live events groups to create the TKO Live Events Strategy Team.
