ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- A closer look at the positions the Denver Broncos could target at the NFL combine in Indianapolis:

Positions of need: The Broncos have needs on the offensive and defensive lines. The offensive front continues to vex them, and this is the third consecutive offseason they will conduct a makeover there. It’s possible they could have three or four new starters up front. Center Matt Paradis is the only given starter on the offensive line, and he’s recovering from surgery on both hips. On the defensive line, DE Vance Walker and NT Sylvester Williams are scheduled to be unrestricted free agents. Throw in the fact that Derek Wolfe has played 16 games in one of the past four seasons because of injuries, and it's clear the Broncos will have to do some work on the defensive line. They’ll take a long look at the tight end class and inside linebacker.

Three players the Broncos could focus on at the combine:

Garett Bolles (offensive tackle), Utah: The tackle class is not considered that strong, especially for teams looking for an immediate starter. That means the good ones probably get selected a little sooner than in other years. If Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk somehow were to fall to the Broncos, they would have to give that plenty of thought, because he might be the best tackle on the board. Bolles was just a one-year starter for the Utes, but he’s athletic with the kind of upside the Broncos want. He’s also could compete to start as a rookie.

Dan Feeney (guard), Indiana: Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway has not used a first-round pick on an offensive lineman during his tenure. But Feeney has the movement skills that will fit the Broncos’ new offense. He has shown good feet in pass protection and overwhelms people on the move as a run-blocker. He has had injuries, notably a concussion and a foot injury -- he missed the 2013 season with a Lisfranc injury -- so his medical reports will get some review. He played 46 games for the Hoosiers, and the Broncos love team captains in the draft profile; Feeney was a captain for two years. He surrendered just two sacks in his career. His potential was on display working in front of Tevin Coleman in 2014.

Bucky Hodges (tight end), Virginia Tech: The Broncos need some reinforcements at tight end. By the time the season rolls around, they need one or two players at the position who can make an impact on the offense. There are some athletic pass-catchers in this draft, players who can have impact in the middle of the field. Game video shows Hodges is a quality route-runner. A former prep quarterback, Hodges had 21 career rushing attempts for the Hokies. He also produced in the red zone; 15 percent of his receptions went for touchdowns (20 touchdowns/133 career receptions).
