Eddie Lacy among four Packers questionable for Lions game

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Although the move was not injury related, James Starks might have been the Green Bay Packers’ No. 1 running back this week no matter what because Eddie Lacy’s groin injury apparently remains an issue.

Lacy, who lost his starting job to Starks this week, was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Lacy couldn’t finish last Sunday’s loss at the Carolina Panthers because of the injury but has been able to practice, albeit on a limited basis, this week.

Three other players were also listed as questionable on Friday: cornerback Sam Shields (shoulder), receiver Ty Montgomery (ankle) and linebacker Mike Neal (hip). Their status could change after Saturday’s practice.

With Shields and Montgomery questionable, it’s possible the Packers still might not have their entire secondary or receiving corps intact. Shields missed last Sunday’s loss to the Panthers because of the shoulder injury he sustained the previous week against the Denver Broncos. Montgomery hasn’t played since before the Week 7 bye because of the sprained left ankle he sustained on Oct. 18 against the San Diego Chargers.

Montgomery revealed on Friday that he initially feared the injury might be season ending.

"To be honest, when I first injured it, I thought I broke my leg when it first happened," Montgomery said.

Nearly a month later, Montgomery said he still isn’t 100 percent. He said he’s not sure whether he can cut and move like he would need to in order to play against the Lions.

“I think it’s a possibility,” he said. “Come game time, I think so, but still not quite sure yet.”

The other 11 players on the Packers' injury report were all listed as probable.
