Injury report: James Jones feared the worst

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay Packers receiver James Jones said he feared the worst when he injured his left knee Oct. 13 against the Baltimore Ravens.

“When it happened, I thought it was over,” Jones said on Wednesday in his first public comments since the injury.

Instead, Jones sustained only a sprain and was given a two- to three-week timetable to return, coach Mike McCarthy said earlier this week.

Jones did not practice on Wednesday and appears to be a long shot to play on Sunday at the Minnesota Vikings.

“If it was the Super Bowl, maybe I’d go,” Jones said. “It’s getting better every day. I’m in there working hard, so hopefully we’ll see what happens this week.”

Although it was a light practice on Wednesday, the Packers saw some encouraging signs with the return of linebacker Brad Jones (hamstring) and running back James Starks (knee). Brad Jones has missed the past two games, while Starks has missed the past three. Both were full participants in Wednesday’s practice.

Outside linebacker Nick Perry (foot) did not practice but was not ruled out on Wednesday like he was a week earlier. The same goes for tight end Ryan Taylor (foot).

Here’s the full injury report:

  • CB Jarrett Bush (hamstring, full participant in practice)

  • TE Jermichael Finley (neck, out)

  • CB Casey Hayward (hamstring, full participant)

  • LB Brad Jones (hamstring, full participant)

  • WR James Jones (knee, did not practice)

  • LB Clay Matthews (thumb, out)

  • LB Nick Perry (foot, did not practice)

  • RB James Starks (knee, full participant)

  • TE Ryan Taylor (knee, did not practice)
