Deshaun Watson first rookie QB to win AFC Offensive Player of the Month

HOUSTON -- Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month, the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to win the award.

Watson also became the first quarterback to be named the Offensive Player of the Month, Offensive Rookie of the Month and Offensive Player of the Week in the same season.

Watson joins Barry Sanders (1989), Edgerrin James (1999), Mike Anderson (2000) and Kareem Hunt (2017) as the only rookies to win the award.

In his last four games, Watson has thrown 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. The rookie is tied for the NFL lead with 19 passing touchdowns on the season, and he has a passer rating of 103. His 19 touchdowns are the most any NFL player has had through his first seven games and his 18 passing touchdowns in the last five games are the most by a rookie over any five-game span in NFL history.

Watson is the first player in NFL history to have three games with four or more passing touchdowns in October.
