No baloney: Jaguars' bologna craze now has a T-shirt

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars in the playoffs? That’s no baloney.

But it is on a T-shirt -- and a hoodie -- thanks to brothers Fred and Christian Dye. They're the ones who came up with the design inspired by coach Doug Marrone's love of bologna and cheese sandwiches, which he admits he eats after every game.

The shirts are for sale through Redbubble, a company that gives independent artists a way to sell their creations.

Fred Dye said he and his brother spent a lot of time kicking around various ideas and putting together a T-shirt with the above slogan after he read the ESPN story about the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council donating 350 pounds of bologna to Marrone and the Jaguars.

Christian Dye, who lives in Ohio, came up with the design. He's an illustrator and graphic designer by training, though he now works as a photo editor.

"I'm too button-down for an idea like that," said Fred Dye, who lives in Jacksonville. "If I do it, it's not fun. He's fun, goofy. He can take a serious idea and make it super fun."

The brothers actually sent the design to Redbubble last week, before the Jaguars beat the Houston Texans to clinch the franchise's first playoff appearance since 2007. Fred Dye said the two aren't expecting to make much money off their idea because they only receive a small portion from the sale of each shirt or hoodie.

It wasn't even that serious of an idea at first.

"This was not in any way a serious thing," Fred Dye said. "That's why I'm shocked to be getting a call from [ESPN].

"I'm completely flabbergasted by this. It was just an idea we threw out there. It was just something fun to do, especially for my brother on a cold Midwest winter night."
