Kansas City Chiefs schedule includes two night home games in December

Breakdown: This shouldn’t be a backbreaking schedule for the Kansas City Chiefs. They’ll have five games against teams that made the playoffs in 2015 and their record against those teams last season was 4-1. The toughest stretch of schedule comes early. After the Chiefs open at home against San Diego, they play three of their next four away from Arrowhead Stadium, including road games against the Texans, Steelers and Raiders. The schedule has a comfortable finishing four-game stretch. The Chiefs have three straight at Arrowhead against the Raiders, Titans and Broncos before they end the season in San Diego against the Chargers.

Night football in December: The home games against Oakland and Denver will be in prime time. The Raiders are at Arrowhead for a Thursday night game on Dec. 8. On Christmas night, the Broncos are at Arrowhead. The Chiefs have one other prime-time game. On Oct. 2, a Sunday night, the Chiefs will face the Steelers in Pittsburgh. The Chiefs last had three prime-time games in 2014 and two of those games were also at home.

Familiar foes: The Chiefs will have a chance to gain or lose ground in the AFC West race late in the season. Three of their last four and four of their last six games will be played against division rivals. That stretch includes both games against the Broncos. The Chiefs will face the Broncos in prime time for the third straight season at Arrowhead Stadium.

Strength of schedule: 16th, .496
