Breakdown
The Giants get a pair of Monday night home games, including the opener against the Steelers and in Week 8 against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's the first time in the 51 years of Monday Night Football that the Giants will host a pair of games. They also play in Philadelphia on Thursday night in Week 7, giving them three prime-time games this season (they had three last season). The real change is that they're not on the road and not playing the Cowboys in Week 1. The Giants had opened in Dallas five of the past seven years and have lost eight of their past nine openers.
Get NFC East done early
This is different. The Giants play five of their six NFC East games between Weeks 5-10. Mixed in there is the MNF matchup with the Bucs. This is the stretch that will likely determine the fate of the season. The Giants are just 4-14 in the division over the past three years. They have lost seven straight to the Eagles. Coach Joe Judge's Giants need to do better, and this will be their opportunity to show they're improved.
The OBJ game
Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.'s first game back against his former team will be in Week 15. A lot could be at stake, aside from predictable revenge. Don't think for a second this won't mean something special. Beckham wasn't happy the way he was discarded and having the organization's incompetence dumped on his carcass. This will be his chance to show the Giants made a massive mistake during what he hopes is a bounce-back season. You could also call this the Freddie Kitchens revenge game. He is the Giants' tight ends coach after serving as the Browns' head coach last season.
