RENTON, Wash. -- A Seattle Seahawks offense that finally found its groove in the second half in Week 3 could be without No. 1 wide receiver Doug Baldwin for Sunday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts at CenturyLink Field.
Baldwin is listed as questionable because of what the team has called a groin strain. Coach Pete Carroll said the seventh-year player will be a game-time decision. Baldwin said earlier in the week that his plan is to play. He reiterated that Friday.
"That is the plan," he said. "I feel good, but we've still got a couple days left."
Baldwin missed most of the fourth quarter of Seattle's loss to the Tennessee Titans after catching a team-high 10 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. He said he felt something in his groin earlier in the game and that it got worse as he played through it. Baldwin didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and was limited Friday.
Carroll sounded encouraged afterward.
“Doug made it through practice today, did a nice job," Carroll said. "We've got to make sure all the way up to game time that he’s feeling good enough to carry out a full game plan and all that. We’re prepared if he’s not able, but he looked good today and he’s very confident that he’s got a chance. But we will wait all the way until Sunday evening before we make that declaration."
If Baldwin can't play, or even if he's limited Sunday night, rookie third-round pick Amara Darboh would be in line for more work behind Tyler Lockett and Paul Richardson. Tanner McEvoy is the fifth receiver on Seattle's roster.
Baldwin has led the Seahawks (1-2) in receiving in each of the past three seasons and also did so as a rookie in 2011. He's missed only two games in his NFL career, both in 2012.
"Personally it's been pretty taxing mentally just because I haven't been able to get out there and get the physical reps, so that's different for me," he said. "Obviously I haven't missed significant time for four or five years now, so that part, getting readjusted to handling an injury, it's been taxing, but it's also been an opportunity for our younger guys."
Running back C.J. Prosise is not expected to play Sunday night because of an ankle injury he suffered in Week 3. The team lists him as doubtful. Prosise is second behind rookie Chris Carson and ahead of Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy in both snaps and carries this season, with much of his playing time coming in a third-down role. Carroll said J.D. McKissic, who's been inactive the first three games, will help handle third-down duties in Prosise's absence.
"All the guys will share the duties and stuff, but J.D. has been a guy that has been groomed to be in that spot," Carroll said.
Free safety Earl Thomas (knee) is fine after missing two practices this week, according to Carroll. Cornerback Neiko Thorpe, one of Seattle's top special-teams players, is listed as questionable because of an ankle injury.
