Creativity in the modern age of college football recruiting has no bounds.
Residents of Boulder, Colorado, and thousands more online spent Friday clamoring over a double-patty cheeseburger named after the nation's top high school prospect -- five-star quarterback Julian Lewis.
The Sink, a 101-year-old burger and pizza restaurant in Boulder, drew national attention after introducing "Juju's Precision Pass Burger" on Friday morning. It coincided with Lewis, the nation's No. 1 overall prospect, making his official visit with the Colorado Buffaloes.
In honor of QB Julian Lewis's visit, we've crafted Juju's Precision Pass Burger! This double patty cheeseburger with shredded lettuce, red onion, bacon, and A-1 aioli is a game-changer. Lewis, a 6-foot-1 pocket passer from Carrollton, Georgia, has been committed to the USC Trojans since August but has had other visits across the country this spring, including with the Indiana Hoosiers and Auburn Tigers the past three weekends. Lewis' trip to Colorado marks his last official visit of the summer and third with the Buffs since the start of the year.
There is no prospect as highly rated in the class of 2025 than Lewis. Thus there's no potential flip more important to coach Deion Sanders' 2025 class, a group that includes just three commits and only one from the 2025 ESPN 300 as of Friday.
With the nation's top prospect on campus this weekend, the Buffs pulled out the Grade-A stops.
"We had some members of [Colorado's] recruiting team contact us and ask if we wanted to play ball and we were in," Greg Tell, co-owner of The Sink, told ESPN. "Anything to help draw attention to CU with Juju."
The Sink is the last bastion of Old Boulder, according to its website. A college town favorite for generations, the restaurant boasts "famous ugly-crust pizza" and outlandish wall art.
The Sink's history and cultural significance in Boulder made it a natural pick for Lewis' signature burger. Once they were alerted, the minds behind The Sink's kitchen door went to work on the double-patty burger with cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, red onion and bacon, all covered in an A1 steak sauce aioli.
"We got intel that [Lewis] likes double cheeseburgers," Tell said. "So we kind of just created one real quick. It's kind of going crazy right now."
Inside the restaurant Friday, "Juju's Precision Pass Burger" was a popular item.
"We've had a lot already ordered today," Tell said.
For Tell and The Sink, "Juju's Precision Pass Burger" played a role in the recruiting visit for Sanders and the trajectory of one of the country's most coveted prospects.
