6:18pm That will be all from us for this series and this game. The cricket in New Zealand is not done for the day, though, with the men's team taking on Pakistan in about an hour from now. Do join us for that game, and until next time, this is goodbye from Vairavan and myself. Take care!
Beth Mooney, Player of the Series: (On everything largely going right with the bat this series) They don't happen too often, so you take those games and series. Nice, little partnership there with Voll at the top. Nice to be able to contribute. She has been banging the door down in domestic cricket, have seen a bit of her behind the scenes and the way she hits the ball. To slot in and to do what she has been doing is nice. She obviously didn't want me to face a lot of balls today (smiles). We have a good blend of youth and experience (in the side), and up to us to keep up with them. We are super competitive, we are resourced really well, a great group of support staff who do a lot of hard work for us. Finding different ways to be competing, nice to have this production line of players (in Australia) and long may it continue.
Georgia Voll, Player of the Match: Nice to get the win, grinded the whole way (through my batting), tough work out there. (On the conditions) Got a few chances, which is always nice. Definitely ground it out for the 50 balls I faced, nice to get a few out (of the middle) in the end. When you grind your way through, finding different areas to score - that was probably the biggest thing today. Probably would have liked to strike a little quicker as well (smiles). Great team to be a part of. We spoke about having a lot of fun, we had a great time out there today. Close finish and nice to get past the finish line.
Tahlia McGrath, Australia captain: It is a nice feeling (winning 3-0), after a long season. We are really excited for a bit of a break coming up. We really committed to our style of play. We were outstanding with the bat. With the ball, missed our lengths a little (today) and a bit of improvement in the field. But overall, happy (with how the series went). There were a few nerves - they (Kerr and Green) batted well. Huge run out from Wareham and she does it time and again for us. Always looking at ways to improve, how we can push the game forward. Our next little progression is eyeing that ODI World Cup. Well-earned break, head home tomorrow, have some nice time off and then come back, with all eyes on the ODI World Cup.
Suzie Bates, New Zealand captain: We asked for a more complete and competitive performance and with the ball, we improved. With the bat, we took the game on, to get that close is pleasing. Catches win matches, and that is the most disappointing thing - that is something we pride ourselves on and that really let us down. Just a learning, if we are completely honest. The intensity that we field at (when at home) is probably not quite there. A reminder of how hard we have to work when we are not together. So proud of the batting unit. We have come hard at them in how we want to play the game, to play without fear and also be smart. That partnership was world-class and if we bat like that throughout, we can beat anyone. Our powerplay bowling, where we have taken some damage, we improved but it (the result) was not to be today. The all-round standard of their bowling and fielding…they (Australia) were world-class. They have set the standard and that is who teams are chasing. They have players who play franchise cricket all over the world and get put under pressure day in, day out. (On what is next) Really exciting - the 50-over World Cup in India, we are setting up nicely as an ODI team. There will be a decent break, hope the girls get away from the game because when we come back, we will have to be on our marks.
5:56pm Phew. What a game of cricket. It ebbed and flowed, but in the end, Australia just had enough runs to play with. That was also down to how well they squeezed NZ early in their innings. But when Green and Kerr got together, the complexion of the contest seemed to change. They put together the best-ever fifth-wicket stand for NZ in this format and made them dream of a historic run-chase.
Unfortunately, both perished in relative quick succession as the final few overs dawned, and NZ could not muster the requisite firepower to take them past the finish line. They will, no doubt, take heart from this performance, given how comprehensively they lost the first two matches. But the result, on the scoreboard, will reflect yet another Australian win, although they had to work awfully hard for this one. Sutherland was their most successful bowler, bagging her second-consecutive four-for, with Wareham, who was exceptional in the field, also very tidy.
13 off 2. Two sixes needed for a Super Over
Carson is at the other end, which might indicate that Halliday might not bat, having taken a blow to her right hand earlier in the day
20 needed off the last over
Andy: "Uncharacteristically sloppy here from the Aussies " -- But when push really came to shove, Wareham stood up and she has, almost single-handedly, turned this game around
