10.39am So it took West Indies just three balls today to take that last wicket. New Zealand have been all out for 231, 23 of them came via extras. West Indies will be happy but New Zealand will not be too worried either given it's still overcast out there.

All good, so Foulkes will resume. There is one slip and a gully
10.35am Jayden Seales will start for West Indies. Foulkes is on strike. A short leg in place.
10.32am Mark Greatbatch, former New Zealand batter and NZC president, rings the bell to signal the start of day two. It's yet another overcast day and West Indies will be looking to take the remaining wicket quickly.
Hayden: "Are we starting early today to make up for lost overs yesterday?" -- Yes, we are.
Thanks, Rvel.
Nathan: "I haven't had an opportunity to monitor the feed today, so this comment may have been made already. Kemar Roach - what an absolute workhorse and servant of WI cricket. So impressive."
10am: Good morning and welcome to our coverage. Kane Williamson marked his return to Test cricket with a composed half-century on a tough pitch, bringing up his 38th fifty to help New Zealand amass a handy total of 231 for 9, with the last two batters still at the crease at stumps on Day one. On the other hand, West Indies pacers were spot-on from the second session onwards, trying different lengths to pose significant challenges and ripped through the middle-order. It's still overcast, with little chance of rain, and so far we are on schedule for an on-time start

07:08pm: Despite the start-stop nature of the first day and rain interruptions, the pitch has offered plenty of spice and assistance to the pacers, with New Zealand scraping their way to 231 with the last men standing. They would dearly like to get to 250 for a little psychological boost. Kane Williamson took his time on a seething track, slowly began to find his groove and scored a fifty after a long hiatus from Test cricket. Handy contributions from Tom Blundell, a 47 from Michael Bracewell and 23 from Nathan Smith helped them breach the 200-mark and forge a recovery after a quick succession of wickets. West Indies quicks were superb from the second session onwards, consistently hitting the right areas and extracted plenty of movement and bounce, with Kemar Roach, Ojay Shields, and Justin Greaves picking up two wickets each while the rest of the bowlers chipped in with one apiece. West Indies would have dearly liked to wrap up the innings and come back fresh to bat but bad light brought and early end to the day's play. Should be a riveting second day. We look forward to your company tomorrow at 10:30am local time
