7:31pm That will be all from us for the BBL. A frantic beginning to the season, but if the excitement generated is anything to go by, we should be in for a fun ride. Join us tomorrow as Brisbane Heat take on the Melbourne Renegades. Until next time, from all of us here at ESPNcricinfo, it is goodbye!
Cooper Connolly: You don't know what is going to happen in such games. You go out there trying to play some high-action cricket. Nice to come out on top. (On some of the new batting shots he has added) Did not need it tonight, might come out later (in the tournament). Nice start for us but plenty of cricket to be played (in the BBL). I should have been there at the end. At least we got a win and happy for the team.
7:27pm An excellent run-chase, spearheaded by Connolly, who blazed his way to a 31-ball 59. The youngster struck the ball cleanly and showed everyone what he can do at this level. Allen did his bit too, with Hardie and captain Turner also playing their parts. The Sixes, meanwhile, tried their best but did not have enough runs to play with. They could also not make the most of the bigger square dimensions.
Still very, very early in the season, though. And an 11-overs-per-side contest does not really define either side. Which is what the Sixers will be clinging on to, ahead of their next encounter against the Adelaide Strikers on Wednesday.
So, this game does go into its final over. Just one more run needed, though. Perry to bowl
LJ Evans c Davies b Dwarshuis 8 (2m 3b 0x4 1x6) SR: 266.66
C Connolly c Edwards b Dwarshuis 59 (42m 31b 3x4 5x6) SR: 190.32
Less than run-a-ball now. 9 off 10
The New Zealand opener is fit again after a lengthy injury and will form an intimidating opening pair with Mitchell Marsh
