For the second straight season, ROX Tigers' ace top laner Song "Smeb" Kyung-ho is the winner of the MVP award during the League of Legends Champions Korea regular season. Smeb took home the award last split as his Tigers won their second regular-season title and faced off with rivals SK Telecom T1; the Tigers ultimately came in second to SKT T1 in the playoffs. This season, it's the same narrative, as Smeb and the Tigers have won their third regular-season title and will be directly advancing to the league finals in a few weeks, hoping to win it all at last.
This is the fourth straight season a top laner has won the MVP award in South Korea. The spring season 2015 award went to current SKT T1 top laner Lee "Duke" Ho-seong while he was on the NaJin e-mFire roster. Last season's summer honor went to KT Rolster's Kim "ssumday" Chan-ho, who barely missed out on the award this split, coming is as the runner-up. With Smeb's back-to-back MVP performances, he joins an elite club of only Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and Bae "Dade" Eo-jin as a two-time winner of the award.
