KT Rolster have signed Song "Smeb" Kyung-ho in the top lane and Heo "PawN" Won-seok in the mid lane for the 2017 League of Legends season, as reported by Dailygame and FOMOS in South Korea. The organization has also retained its starting jungler, Go "Score" Dong-bin.
Smeb's tenure with the ROX Tigers in 2016 has earned him back-to-back MVP awards in the spring and summer seasons. He was instrumental to his team's success in the LCK with the summer split crown and a second-place finish during the spring season. Following a narrow semifinal exit in the World Championship against SK Telecom T1 (3-2), the organization announced his departure via Facebook.
Joining him on KT Rolster's lineup is PawN, a former world champion with Samsung White in 2014. Since then, the mid laner has helped EDward Gaming establish dominance in the Chinese circuit. Throughout his two-year tenure, EDG missed first-place finishes in only two major tournaments. However, he also nursed a back injury during that period and stepped down from the starting roster during the 2016 LPL Summer Split.
Before the signings, KT Rolster announced it had parted ways with four of its five players: Song "Fly" Yong-jun, Ha "Hachani" Seung-chan, and longtime members Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho and No "Arrow" Dong-hyeon. The roster narrowly missed the 2016 League of Legends World Championship following narrow defeats (3-2) to ROX Tigers in the LCK Summer Finals and to Samsung Galaxy in the Korean Regional Finals.
The organization has yet to announce its signings in the bottom lane.
