Corey "Corey" Nigra, widely considered to be one of the top stars of Overwatch League, announced Friday he will retire from Overwatch and pursue a career in Riot Games' new FPS, VALORANT.
"When I was younger, I had the ambition to go pro in Counter Strike," Corey explained in a Twit Longer post. "Seeing Valorant as a hybrid between CS and OW, this looks like the game that was made for me."
Corey went on to individually thank his former Washington Justice teammates. The Justice are currently second last in the OWL standings.
In Overwatch, Corey was seen as a breakout player with incredible precision aim. He was a member of the gold-winning Team USA Squad at the 2019 Overwatch World Cup.
This is the second major move for an OWL player to VALORANT, with reigning regular season MVP Jay "Sinatraa" Won making the move just over a week ago.
VALORANT is still currently in closed beta, with an early summer release.
