The middleweight bout between Karl Roberson and Marvin Vettori for Wednesday's UFC Fight Night has been canceled after Roberson was forced to withdraw due to complications from a failed weight cut, sources told ESPN.
Roberson missed weight by 1½ pounds Tuesday. Later in the evening, he fell ill and was transported to a local hospital, sources told ESPN, and he was discharged Wednesday morning but was deemed not medically fit to fight.
On Wednesday, an emotional Vettori confronted Roberson at the host hotel in Jacksonville, Florida. A video posted to social media showed Vettori shouting a slew of expletives at Roberson while being held back.
Both Roberson and Vettori have two-fight winning streaks.
The event, which will be headlined by Anthony Smith vs. Glover Teixeira, is set to proceed with 10 fights.
Kevin Holland, who is scheduled to fight Saturday, has volunteered to replace Roberson and face Vettori, sources said. Holland has said he can make weight in an hour and would be willing to fight Saturday as well, if healthy.
Wednesday's fight card takes place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville. It will be televised by ESPN+. The main card begins at 9 p.m. ET, the prelims at 6 p.m.
