NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans activated outside linebacker Bud Dupree from the physically unable to perform list before practice on Friday. The veteran outside linebacker signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Titans in March.
After hitting his stride with 11.5 sacks for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2019 season, Dupree, who turned 28 in February, was on track for another strong season in 2020 with eight sacks before suffering a torn ACL in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Dupree predicted that he'd be ready for training camp based on positive feedback he got from doctors during the rehab process. Getting him back on the field is critical for the Titans.
Dupree took part in individual period and got some additional work in with Mike Vrabel in between reps. He took part in 7-on-7 drills during his first day of practice as well.
"It's up to the coaches," Dupree said. "We're building back in slowly. That's the way they do it here. We're communicating well. They're asking me what drills I want to do now and making sure it's beneficial for me. It's fun man, being able to move around again."
The Titans fielded only three outside linebackers for most of their games last season, which resulted in Harold Landry playing 94% of the snaps.
Tennessee hasn't had a pass-rusher register 10 sacks in a season since Brian Orakpo finished with 10.5 in 2017.
