DETROIT -- The Lions lost starting cornerback Amik Robertson to an arm injury and watched quarterback Jared Goff briefly exit during their 45-31 loss in the NFC divisional round against the Washington Commanders on Saturday night.
Robertson was injured while tackling Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin on the defense's second play of the game. He was escorted to the locker room by team athletic trainers as they held his arm and later ruled him out.
Speaking after the game, Lions coach Dan Campbell said Robertson broke his arm and will undergo surgery Sunday.
Goff left in the second quarter after absorbing a big hit while the Commanders' Quan Martin returned an interception for a touchdown.
Teddy Bridgewater -- who came out of retirement and was re-signed by the team late in the season -- entered the game, and on his third play, wideout Jameson Williams scored on a 61-yard end around.
But Goff was back under center on the Lions' next possession just before halftime.
Robertson has been a pivotal player for Detroit's defense, and he was coming off one of the best games of his career in the regular-season finale Jan. 5 when he held Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson to three catches for 54 yards.
The former Louisiana Tech star joined the Lions as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. He logged 50 total tackles, eight passes defended and a career-high three forced fumbles during the 2024 campaign.
Washington, meanwhile, had its own injury issues.
During its first touchdown of the game, right guard Sam Cosmi injured his right knee. He helped pave the way for Brian Robinson's 2-yard run in the second quarter, but at the end of the play, Cosmi got pushed backward, causing his right leg to bend. He was on the ground in pain before eventually limping off the field.
Cosmi did not return and was ruled out at halftime. He was replaced by Trent Scott.
Cosmi has started every game this season.
