Eagles Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens doesn't start due to back

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles offensive lineman Landon Dickerson replaced an injured Cam Jurgens at center in the starting lineup for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Commanders.

Jurgens is active but has been dealing with a back injury that sidelined him at practice Wednesday and Thursday. He was a limited participant Friday and listed on the injury report as questionable.

With offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and Eagles trainers watching closely, Jurgens tested his back on the field pregame by simulating blocking before it was determined Dickerson should get the call.

Dickerson is moving from his normal post at left guard. He played some center at Alabama and worked there for most of the week in Jurgens' absence, with Tyler Steen moving into the starting left guard spot.

"Knock the rust off and then kind of get back in the saddle," Dickerson said this week. "It's like riding a bike."

Jurgens, a 2022 second-round pick out of Nebraska, took over center duties this season for likely future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce. He filled those large shoes exceptionally well en route to a Pro Bowl nod.
