Mary Earps returns to England squad following hip injury

Lauren James and Lotte Wubben-Moy have withdrawn from the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2025 qualifying decisive fixtures against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden but Mary Earps returns after a hip injury.

Both James and Wubben-Moy have been carrying foot injuries since the end of the Women' Super League (WSL) season and will be unavailable for selection. Neither were available for the most recent fixtures against France.

Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses travel to the Netherlands on Monday, July 1, for preparations ahead of the crunch fixtures and will play a behind-closed-doors friendly with the Dutch on July 4.

Niamh Charles and Earps both return to the fold and will travel with the squad to continue their rehab. Earps, who left Manchester United upon the expiry of her contact, was substituted off with an injury in England 2-1 win over France last month.

Orlando Pride's Anna Moorhouse earns her first call-up in place of Kayla Rendell who also withdraws through persistent injury.

Moorhouse will link up with the squad on July 8, when the Lionesses return to St George's Park.

Georgia Stanway will not travel to the Netherlands as her preseason preparations with Bayern Munich have already began. She will also link up with the squad in a week's time.

England are currently third in Group A3, level on points with Sweden (seven) but two points behind France. The Lionesses secured a win and a loss against France, a 2-0 win over Ireland and a 1-1 draw with Sweden.

Wiegman's squad will face the Republic of Ireland on July 12 in Norwich before travelling to play Sweden in Gothenburg on July 16.

England need finish in the top-two of the group to progress to the tournament. If they finish in third place, the reigning champions will enter the playoffs in the Autumn. They cannot finish fourth due to Ireland's zero points tally.
