DePaul has been added to the Women's Jimmy V Classic, and the No. 20 Blue Demons will face No. 5 Louisville on Friday at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut (ESPN, 6:30 p.m. ET).
DePaul replaces No. 3 UConn, which had to withdraw because the program is currently on pause due to COVID-19 protocols.
DePaul was originally scheduled to play Villanova on Friday, but that Big East conference game has been postponed and is expected to be rescheduled.
The Blue Demons are 1-1 after losing 93-91 to Texas A&M on Saturday and beating Chicago State 128-66 on Monday while setting a program record for points in a single game. The Blue Demons hit 19 3-pointers, tied for second most in a game in program history. Louisville is 2-0 after victories against Southeast Missouri and Eastern Kentucky.
DePaul is 17-15 all-time against Louisville. The Blue Demons and Cardinals last faced each other in the second round of the NCAA tournament on March 20, 2016, with Louisville falling 73-72.
The Women's Jimmy V Classic has been expanded to also feature another game: No. 8 NC State at No. 1 South Carolina on Thursday (ESPN2, 7 p.m. ET).
Named for legendary college basketball coach Jim Valvano, the Jimmy V Classic annually raises money and awareness for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The women's portion of the classic debuted in 2002.
There was a schedule change Monday for another top-25 women's team, as No. 6 Mississippi State's Dec. 12 game against Southern Miss was canceled because the Golden Eagles have suspended program activity until Dec. 12 because of COVID-19 protocols.
